Winning Your March Madness Bracket!

Around the beginning of March, people all over begin to get excited about college basketball. Even those who have not watched a game or checked a score all season prepare to fill out their brackets for the March Madness tournament, and they soon find that they are caught up in the excitement! There is one major problem, however, and it is this: many of these people have no clue what teams they should pick! If you are one of those people who have not watched a game all season, but who still enjoys filling out a bracket, follow these simple tips to put yourself in place to win your pool. After all, you don't have to know anything about college basketball to fill out a winning bracket!

When you fill out your bracket, the first thing you should remember is to go with the numbers. People are often criticized when their bracket is "all chalk" - meaning that they have picked all the top seeded teams - but at the same time, these teams are seeded highly for a reason! Of course, part of the excitement about March Madness is the unpredictability of it all, and if you have ever filled out a bracket with the highest-seeded team winning every game, you have probably lost. So while you must pick a handful of upsets correctly if you want to win your bracket pool, also make sure you remind yourself that there is a reason why the higher-seeded teams are seeded where they are.

Another thing that is important for you to remember is that the "experts" have the job they have for a reason. Especially if you have not followed the college basketball season, your bracket will require a bit of time spent doing research. When it comes time to begin your research, the perfect starting point is the experts' picks. This provides a perfect foundation for your own picks, as you figure out the consensus among the experts for each different game.

Finally, you will find that there are a fair number of games where you keep switching back and forth in your pick. The solution to this problem is fairly simple: just go with your gut! Even though you might be wrong on these picks sometimes, it is much better to be wrong having gone with your gut than to be wrong having gone against your gut.

If you have gone through the entire college basketball season without watching a game, you are certainly at a disadvantage when the time comes to fill out your bracket. But if you take the right approach, this disadvantage is in no way unconquerable!
