Great Vacations: Saint George Island

Make up to 6 figures with a list of 10 people!

When it comes to vacations in the United States, Florida is one of the most beautiful and most well-known destinations. But in conjunction with all the great things about a Florida vacation, there is one major, detracting factor to a Florida vacation: Florida is extremely popular. Because of its popularity, the beaches of Florida are often crowded, even if you can afford to rent a beach house intsead of staying in a crowded hotel. But even still, there remains a small number of places in Florida that are still serene and quiet; Saint George Island is among these places.

Saint George Island is a 22-mile barrier island, and it includes some of the quietest and most pristine beaches on the Gulf. On Saint George Island, you will find miles of uncrowded beaches where you can sun, look for shell, and fish, all with calm, beautiful water. And if you are a fan of wildlife, Saint George Island is known for its sea turtles and for the huge population of dolphins that roam its waters.

There are plenty of accommodations, all within walking distance of the beach, for you to choose from on Saint George Island, ranging from small cottages to large homes. Bicyclists will also find plenty to enjoy on the island, with offroad trails in the state park, and with a paved bike trail. You can also find plenty of places to rent bicycles if you do not want to bring your own, and you can rent kayaks and boats to take out on the water for the day.

Food is never a problem in Saint George Island either, as there are a number of great eateries sprinkled throughout the island. In addition to the restaurant options, there are also some great little shops on the island if you want to add some local flavor to your luggage.

These days, serene and quiet vacation destinations in enviable locations can be difficult to find, and it is even harder to find such places at an affordable price. But on Saint George Island, you will find all these things and more; if you are starting to plan a summer vacation, keep Saint George Island at the front of your thoughts!
